WeCrossed

Terms of service

Last updated August 15, 2026

The short version: be 18 or older, don't use WeCrossed to hurt or deceive people, and understand that we've built the app so we can't read your profile or messages, which shapes what we can and can't do about content. The rest of this page is the full version.

1. Agreement and eligibility

By using WeCrossed, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

You must be at least 18 years old to use WeCrossed. By creating a profile, you confirm you meet that requirement. WeCrossed is only available where it's legal for you to use it.

2. Your profile and acceptable use

Your profile is tied to keys generated and held on your own device, not to a username and password we manage. Keeping your device secure is what keeps your profile secure.

You agree not to use WeCrossed to:

  • Harass, threaten, or deceive other users, including catfishing or impersonation.
  • Post or share content you don't have the right to share.
  • Advertise, solicit, or run automated/bot profiles.
  • Interfere with or reverse-engineer the encounter, matching, or matching-relay protocol, or attempt to identify other users outside the app's own reveal mechanics.
  • Use the app in a way that violates the law where you are.

Availability and changes

WeCrossed is currently in beta. We don't guarantee uptime, and features can be added, changed, or removed as the protocol evolves. Availability may vary by platform, region, and OS version.

3. Your content

Ownership and permission

You own your profile, photos, and messages. Because everything leaves your device already encrypted, we hold ciphertext we can't read, which means we don't have a meaningful way to use your content for anything beyond relaying it to the intended recipient, such as AI training, advertising, or resale. We'd need the ability to read it first, and by design, we don't have that.

Content safety

Nudity screening on your own photos happens entirely on your device, using a local image classifier before a photo is ever uploaded. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party to make that check.

Deletion and exports

You can delete your profile and data at any time. See deleting your account for exactly what that removes and what briefly persists. There's no separate export tool, because your device already holds your data in a usable form; we never hold a readable copy to export on your behalf.

Copyright

If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on WeCrossed without permission, email contact@wecrossed.app. Because profile content is end-to-end encrypted, we can't view or selectively remove a single photo or message the way an ordinary platform could. The only action we're able to take is at the profile level, up to and including removing it entirely.

5. Privacy and third parties

Our privacy policy controls how we handle data, and forms part of these terms. Profile bundles and messages are end-to-end encrypted today, not planned for later. Push notifications, when enabled, are delivered through Apple's or Google's own notification services.

6. Safety, blocking, and enforcement

Blocking

You can block anyone from your matches or candidates list. Blocking is immediate, silent, and entirely on your device: the other person is never notified, and it can't be undone. There's currently no separate "report to us" flow that sends a complaint about another user to our team.

Enforcement by us

Because we can't read profile or message content, we can't moderate it. What we can do is act on abuse patterns visible at the infrastructure level, like excessive requests or attempts to abuse the matching protocol, up to rate-limiting or banning the profile or device responsible.

Deleting your profile

You can delete your own profile and data at any time. See deleting your account.

7. Disclaimers and liability

WeCrossed is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything arising from interactions with other users we have no visibility into. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

8. Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Belgium. If you're a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence still apply regardless of this clause, and EU consumers can also bring a claim in the courts of their own country. We'd rather resolve a problem directly, so try contact@wecrossed.app first.

9. Changes, communications, and sanctions

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. For changes that meaningfully reduce your rights, we'll give you notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use WeCrossed after that means you accept the updated terms.

App communications

We don't collect an email address, so we can't and don't send you email. Operational messages, like a notification about a match, arrive as in-app or push notifications instead, on the same terms described in our privacy policy.

Export controls and sanctions

You're responsible for complying with the export control and sanctions laws that apply to you. We may restrict access to WeCrossed where required to comply with these laws.

10. EU Digital Services Act and UK Online Safety Act

We intend to meet our obligations under the EU Digital Services Act and the UK Online Safety Act as they apply to a service our size. Because content is end-to-end encrypted, our ability to act on illegal content is necessarily limited to what's described in section 3 and section 6 above, rather than content review. If you believe something on WeCrossed is illegal, contact us at contact@wecrossed.app.

11. General terms

  • If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands, and the unenforceable part is read to achieve its intent as closely as the law allows.
  • These terms, along with our privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about WeCrossed.
  • You can't transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
  • We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
  • The English version of these terms is the controlling version.
